Guide to Implementing Universal Publishing in Mexican Publishing Houses
In Mexico, the scarcity of accessible books for people with disabilities creates a significant barrier to accessing printed text. The production, marketing, and distribution of works in accessible formats require specific expertise and involve considerable risks and investments. Although local and international regulations are putting pressure on the publishing sector, moving such an entrenched industry seems challenging.
This guide offers a step-by-step methodology for converting publishing houses into accessible, regardless of their size or nature. Its mission is to simplify this challenge with an economically viable work plan, centered on the concept of universal publishing, where the digital book is the format that allows equal access to the greatest number of readers. This roadmap by stages includes all stakeholders in the book chain, from the author to the reader, organic marketing and communication plans, and a list of low-cost providers.
